Schedule Change

For the 2nd semester, 2nd grade will now have Gym class on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and Computers or Music on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This Week in 2nd Grade:

In writing We will begin our non-fiction unit of study. Students will be learning to create how-to books and “all-about” books. We will begin learning about how to choose topics that interest us and how to conduct research for our books.

In reading we this week we will be Swimmy.  This is a favorite story by Leo Lionni with an important lesson about teamwork and leadership.

In math we will begin multiplication. By the end of this unit, students should have a solid understanding of multiplication and know multiplication facts up to 5×5.

In science we are beginning our study of life cycles. Our monarch caterpillars have already arrived and we are watching them eat and eagerly awaiting their transformation into butterflies!

In Social Studies we are continuing our study of the past. This week we will be learning what it was like for children at school 100 years ago. Thank you to families who sent in family artifacts this week. They were a fascinating window into the past!
